At last – Whitby jet rings

Posted on: March 7th, 2017 by Kathleen Roberts

We haven’t offered Whitby jet rings in our Etsy shop before (though we do sell them at craft fairs) because sizing is a problem. But now we’ve finally found some sterling silver adjustable rings that we think are robust enough and sufficiently good quality to offer. They’e got a double cabochon mount and we’re doing them in a combination of either just Whitby jet, jet and amethyst or jet and amber.

Find them on our shop on Etsy here:

More rings coming soon, including some very affordable silver plated ones that look really dramatic!

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

Posted on: December 14th, 2016 by Kathleen Roberts

It’s been a rollercoaster year with too many surprises (or should that be shocks?)  to mention. But some things remain the same, thank goodness, and one of them is the Yorkshire coastline and beaches where we find our jet. We never tire of the beauty of this coast, in any weather, and its tranquillity and peace is a great – and sometimes much-needed – restorative. We will look forward to 2017 in a spirit of hope and resilience, and here is a little reminder of clear skies to come…

Quick jet-hunting foray

Posted on: July 6th, 2016 by Kathleen Roberts

We’re off this weekend for a quick jet-hunting foray – it’s not that we’re running out of the stuff, more that we’re pining for the experience! Here’s hoping the weather is warm enough for a paddle…

June jet-hunting

Posted on: June 18th, 2016 by Kathleen Roberts

Back from another jet-hunting trip in very un-summery conditions…it was so misty most of the days that it could have been November. Occasionally the sea-fret would lift but we never saw the sun, unfortunately. But we saw quite a bit of jet, and came home with more than enough to replenish the stocks. Here is Runswick Bay, looming up out of the mist – very atmospheric. But some blue sky would have been nice!Misty Runswick

Jet Set on Tour

Posted on: May 29th, 2016 by Kathleen Roberts

We’ve been meeting and greeting our customers in person today, at the craft fair organised at Otley Courthouse to coincide with the monthly farmers’ market. It’s always on the last Sunday of the month and we plan to be at the next one  – come and see us on Sunday 26 June and have a chat. We usually have a few fossils to give away as well, plus lots of interesting things to look at that we’ve picked up on the beach. Come and join the jet set!
